Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Christian J. “Chris” Steinmetz III graduated from the University of Virginia in 1988. After working with an Atlanta law firm for two years, Chris took his Juris Doctor from Mercer University Law School in Macon, Georgia in May of 1993. After graduating, he practiced in Glynn County, Georgia until the fall of 1994 when he moved to Savannah to work under the City Attorney and the members of his firm. Thereafter, Chris associated with former Georgia Court of Appeals Judge, H. Sol Clark and his son, Fred Clark in the firm that eventually became Clark, Clark & Steinmetz. In 2006, Chris joined with Joe Gannam and Rick Gnann to begin a new era by forming Gannam, Gnann & Steinmetz, LLC.
Well-known and respected in the Federal and State Courts throughout South and Middle Georgia, Chris represents a variety of Companies, Employers, Governmental entities, and Individuals in insurance defense and commercial litigation matters. Chris also has a thriving creditor bankruptcy practice throughout South Georgia in which he protects the interests of municipalities, corporations, and individuals in both simple bankruptcy cases and in complex Bankruptcy Litigation. Finally, Chris maintains a significant general practice in which he performs a variety of services for clients, including Wills, Corporate representation and advising, and conflict resolution.
Chris has been a Distinguished Member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC) since being elected thereto in 2003, and is also a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Savannah Bar Association, and an alumnus of Leadership Savannah. Chris is also listed in AM Best’s Directory of Recommended Insurance Attorneys and Adjusters, a prestigious guide of client-recommended and industry-recognized Attorneys who are uniquely qualified to handle Insurance Defense litigation needs.
